About Awana
Awana is a time-tested and trusted Christian Curriculum that focuses on teaching kids to memorize God’s Word, study the Bible, and apply it to their lives. Fun, energetic games help provide opportunities to interact and build new friendships. Each week kids read their discipleship handbook at home and study to remember their scripture verses. Then at church, we pair a small group “book time” with large group teaching. As children complete various stages in the Awana program, they earn awards.
The name AWANA is an acronym for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed,” which comes from the key verse: “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15, KJV). The goal of Awana is to reach kids with the Gospel, develop a biblical foundation and teach them to live a life of wisdom and grace.

Cubbies (Ages 3–4, Preschool Level)
Designed with young children in mind, Cubbies uses storybook-style handbooks and interactive sessions that include story time, crafts, music, and gentle games. The focus is on helping preschoolers respect God, learn core Bible truths, and build a simple foundation in faith. Parents participate closely as their children complete weekly “Bear Hug” activities at home to reinforce each lesson.
Sparks (Kindergarten through 2nd grade)
Sparks ignites early elementary children’s curiosity as they explore Bible people and events. Through three years of curriculum, clubbers memorize Bible verses, complete handbook activities, and enjoy colorful games and worship—often guided by “Sparky” the firefly mascot. Sparks aims to build a foundational knowledge of Christ and the Gospel, in a fun and engaging setting.
Truth & Training (Grades 3–6)
T&T takes upper elementary kids deeper into the truths of God’s Word, helping them learn biblical themes and apply them to real life. The multi-year curriculum includes progressively challenging handbooks, mentoring small groups, Bible-based large-group teaching, and team-oriented games. T&T groups are typically divided into “Ultimate Adventure” (Grades 3–4) and “Ultimate Challenge” (Grades 5–6), with awards and activities suited to each stage.
