SENIOR PASTOR, Mike Harris Mike is a native of California, born in Long Beach in 1967 and raised in Huntington Beach his whole life. At the age of 16 he met Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior. At the age of 19 he went on staff at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa and served as an assistant youth pastor under Pastor Chuck smith, Pastor Romaine, and the one who discipled him, Richard Cimino. At the age of 20, Mike took a trip to Yugoslavia for what was to be three weeks but ended up being two years. God moved in incredible ways in those first months in Yugoslavia where he saw hundreds coming to the Lord. Through that, he started the first Calvary Chapel of Eastern Europe which God has used as a catalyst to see over 20 churches spring up in Europe. After a year and a half of serving in Eastern Europe, Mike returned to California to be married to his beautiful wife Bridget. Mike and Bridget returned to Subotica, Yugoslavia for another six months until returning back to California. Mike went on staff at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa once again, this time as the Jr. High Pastor and then the High School Pastor for eight years. In 2000, Mike stepped into the role of being the Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Beachside (formally known as Committed Christian fellowship). His greatest joy besides the Lord and serving at the church is his marriage of 17 years to his beloved wife Bridget. Together they have three children – Jacquelyn (10), Madelyn (6), and Cayden his son (3). Mike loves to surf and takes great pleasure cutting off his staff members when they are surfing with him. He also loves photography, snow skiing, and riding the biggest waves he can find. But the most enjoyable thing he does is simply hanging out with his wife and kids and being close to Jesus. |
